Mindspan is an after school program, a reading intervention program and an adult education program. These literacy programs are built to explore how reading and language arts skills can be developed through songwriting and musical theater craft.

Using Grahame's classic environmental children's story as a vehicle to dreams, the K-12 American Musical Theater academic success intervention builds phonemic awareness. This kind of hearing, speaking and listening training accelerates student participation and hones perception.

The English Language lends itself naturally to music. British and American songwriters have always exploited the infectious rhythms and joyful cadences of spoken English. Bridging the English language literacy achievement gap in new generations, the Mindspan Project is broadening its impact in academic year 2006-2007.

The magic of lyrics in popular songs, of playing music and manipulating words for sheer pleasure is regularly promoted by artists and now broadly endorsed by a large body of research. Join us in laying the ground work with the whole country to help our kids succeed.
